In Memory of Quino: Support His Loved Ones

Quino - Higinio Gonzalez- died on February 8th, 2025 in an avalanche in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. He was an expert climber, back country guide, cyclist, skier, and mountaineer.

Quino leaves behind the love of his life, our incredible friend Jamie Fendler, her children Ada and Max, his mom-Pilar, sister-Pili, and many more beloved family members.

Quino’s life was one continuous adventure and his loss is felt by so many across the globe that had the privilege to join him on a part of the journey. As a guide and friend, Quino introduced many of us to peaks we never dreamed of summiting, taught us life lasting skills, and often helped us tap into strength we hadn’t realized existed.

Quino lived his life enthusiastically and with a rare passion for his pursuits. He was uniquely brilliant, perpetually curious, and unapologetically authentic. He was truly one of a kind.

Amidst this devastating loss, we have all found ourselves wanting to show up for Jamie and family the way that she has always shown up for us. Jamie is an innate helper and it’s likely many of you (like us) have been on the receiving end of her care. She is the epitome of a selfless spirit, dropping everything she has for any friend (or friend of a friend…) in need.

We would like to lift any possible weight of this tragedy off Quino’s family so they can focus on their hearts and put their energy toward healing. Quino had planned to replace the weathered roof of their home this spring, a stress that we as a community can come together to financially unburden them from. Knowing how much love for Quino, Jamie, and their family exists both locally and internationally- we also hope to use donations toward future services to honor Quino’s life. Additional money raised will assist with travel and accommodations as needed.

No amount is too small and we are grateful for your care of Quino’s loved ones during this time. We encourage you to share a happy memory of Quino for all to enjoy or a message of love and support for Jamie and family.
