It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a great man, Ray Escamilla, who went to be with the Lord on the evening of January 4, 2021.
Raymond Escamilla was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and so much more to many. If you weren’t sure whether or not you knew who he was, then you didn’t know him. His commanding presence was profound and so strongly felt that even if you wanted to forget, he wouldn’t let you. His booming voice was unmistakably noticed in every church service or event he attended. His absence will be noticeably felt and we will truly miss every aspect of this man’s life.
Raymond was a die-hard White Sox fan and his passion for his favorite baseball team was rivaled only by his love of Ricobene’s and Maxwell Street Polishes. Still, above all else, nothing meant more to him than his family. He always made a big deal about his kids and grandkids and he celebrated them often. This man loved every one of his grandchildren like they were his own children. There were many times he welcomed strangers into his home, treating them like family, and allowing them to stay for days on end, often without complaint. Even in seemingly chaotic moments, many who entered his home felt a sense of peace when they were there. He created a welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. He may not have been perfect, but he genuinely loved people. He wanted people to know Jesus. He was a big guy with a tender heart and we will miss him dearly.
We are requesting monetary funds to help offset the cost of funeral expenses. His wish was to be buried near his son and other family members. We hope to have all funds collected in their entirety by January 16 to be distributed to Mary Escamilla, his wife of 50 years.
We understand that these are difficult times for many, so if you are not able to assist monetarily, your prayers are greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
We will miss you, Uncle Ray!
