NOTE FROM FAMILY: Please do not share this link, please do not put on Social Media. I do not have the ability to lock it down - Thank you.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Reed Heil’s passing in an avalanche while snowboarding on Tuesday, December 31. Reed was a cherished colleague and friend to many during his time with Merkle, and we will forever value his contributions and support of the team.

Reed, a Merkle colleague for almost 10 years, was known as a champion of all things Merkle, a relationship builder, and an operational guru with a solutions mindset. He was incredibly helpful, a light and joy to work with, and one of the best project managers on the team. We’ve had the honor of hearing many great stories about him and the deep connections he made with so many of you in one-on-one conversations.

Reed’s family and snowboarding were his world. He often got up at 4 AM, ‘skiffed’ up a mountain, snowboarded down, and was in the office by 9 AM, multiple times a week.

He leaves behind his beloved family:
• Isabel, his oldest, is a sophomore in college at the University of Utah, majoring in finance. He loved to talk about how smart she is.
• Noah, his middle child, is in competitive soccer. He was recently in Florida for a tournament. Reed often said one of his favorite things to do was to watch Noah play. The youngest in his group, and one of the most talented.
• Jackson, his youngest, got his learner’s permit in July. He is an avid skier. Reed loved to share videos and pictures of his kids; attached is an amazing video of Jackson landing a double backflip.
• Stephanie, his wife and the love of his life, is a teacher. They loved to go out on date nights – specifically sushi date nights. He said she was the smartest person that he knew.

The world will not be the same without Reed, and he will be sorely missed.
