In memory of Richard Inglis
On July 29th our Dad, Richard Inglis, passed away at St Catherine's Hospice after a two and a half year battle with brain cancer.
We are incredibly proud of our Dad. He has been a great inspiration for us in how he embraced the last few years, continuing to lead a happy retirement, despite circumstances. He remained active, playing Tennis and Golf, walking the dog with mum and enjoyed going out cycling. He continued to maintain a positive outlook on life and everything he did reflected this.
He leaves behind him a great legacy, showing how an illness does not have to define a person. We are so grateful for the treatment Dad received at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and St Catherine's Hospice. As a way of saying thanks, and as a way of remembering our Dad, Katie and I will be raising money for these two great charities.
Ride Reigate 100km Charity Bike Ride - October 3rd
On October 3rd, Jamie will be riding the 100km Ride Reigate. He will be doing it with his good friend (and domestique) Rory Sinclair. Rory, along with many of my close friends, has been a great source of support over the last few weeks and months, and has kindly agreed to chaperone me around the route. I expect to be clinging on to his wheel for most of the ride, but am looking forward to completing it with a good friend. We will be riding as part of the St Catherine's Hospice team.
Royal Parks Half Marathon, London - October 10th
A week later I will be running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London. I'm hoping the week long recovery is enough to ensure I get round in one piece, but am excited to be running around the parks of central London raising money for a great cause. I will be doing the run on behalf of the Royal Marsden, as I did back in 2018 when I ran the Exeter Half Marathon.
Reading Half Marathon - November 7th
For our final charity even, Katie and I will be running together in the Reading Half Marathon. After picking up running over the first lockdown, Katie has really embraced her running over the last few months and I am looking forward to being her running partner for this half marathon. We will be joined by two of Dad's good friends, Mike Coveney and Nick Pettit. Mike and Nick have been avid runners for a few years now and Dad enjoyed joining them for the occasional park run.
We kindly ask for donations to this gofundme page and will then be splitting the money evenly and donating it to the Royal Marsden and St Catherine's Hospice after completing the Reading Half Marathon.
We'd like to thank everyone for the kind messages of support we've received over the last few weeks. We will be eternally grateful for the kindness people have shown us and we are looking forward to completing these events in memory of our Dad.
We will provide updates of how our training is going, and you can find how we are getting on via out Strava pages.
Many thanks,
Jamie and Katie
