It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Rick Skeels, who passed on January 24th 2024. Rick was a beloved husband and friend who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Originally from Las Vegas, NV, Rick was a natural athlete who attended Chapparal High School where he was a dominant player on the men's tennis team. His claim to fame was competing against world class athlete Andre Agassi during that time. After high school, Rick continued his education at the the University of Nevada, Reno. Rick started working for Harrah's Reno during during this time, which would shape his career in the gaming industry. He graduated from UNR the class of 1991.
At Harrah's Reno, Rick worked his way from valet attendant to games dealer, and eventually into management. While juggling school and work, Rick met Amy Bjork. This romance would lead to their marriage in 1993. Rick and Amy would move to Kansas City in 1999, as they decided to move closer to Amy's family and Rick was able to promote to Pit Manager for a sister casino at Harrah's Kansas City. The couple moved to Cincinnati, OH in 2013 and eventually Columbus, OH where Rick was Pit Manager for Hollywood Casino Columbus.
Rick was an avid motorcycle enthusiast most of his life, and was a well known figure on the pro racing circuit.
Rick's parents passed when he was young, along with an older brother JD. Rick is survived by his loving wife Amy Bjork Skeels, brother Scott Skeels, and niece Danielle Skeels.
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards Rick's remaining medical bills, funeral service costs, and to help Amy, who due to health, is unable to work.
