In Memory of Robert D. Burns: Funeral Support Needed
Donation protected
It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of Robert D. Burns (Doobie) He died early morning on the 9th of October 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Roughly 2 1/2 years ago Bob suffered two strokes leaving him immobile. Vanessa has been by his side 24/7 treating and supporting his needs after taking early retirement to be able to support him from home. His friends, siblings, children, and grand children have been a huge support in aiding Vanessa and Bob. With their love and support, Bob had a peaceful last few years.
Bob served in the Navy 1972-1974 in Vietnam and then again 1977-1979 with honorable discharge . He was a passionate and skilled Iron Worker belonging to the Local 395. He was a devoted Christian. He was a passionate fisherman who loved inviting all who would listen to his lake house (even the mail man). He was a cherished husband, daddy, grandpa and friend and will be sorely missed.
The family is looking for donations to cover funeral expenses that are remaining after the support of the Iron Worker Union. We understand times are hard, but if any family or friends would be interested in providing support, the family greatly appreciates it.
The wake will be held Sunday October 13th from 2pm-8pm and the service will be 11am Monday October 14th at Reese Funeral Home in Hobart, IN and burial Blake Cemetery in Portage.
