In Memory of Santiago Farias: Support His Loved Ones

On June 18th my brother in law Santiago Farias was biking to work as he does every morning for the past 10 or so years. Mid trip an impatient Prius driver attempts to cut off a city bus that had signaled Santiago to go ahead. The Prius driver unfortunately runs into Santiago throwing him onto the windshield and then onto the concrete where he bashes his head. He was rushed to the hospital for stabilization and then was transported to a more need specific facility where over the course of weeks he was making a steady and hopeful recovery.

Today on July 17th during physical therapy he suffered from a heart attack and became unconscious. After being rushed for medical attention he was sadly declared deceased. He was a husband, a son, a brother, a father of 5, and a disciple of God. We know that God has a plan for us all and once our work here is done we shall be taken up with the Lord. A scripture in the Bible states:

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;"

We are asking for any help for the funeral services as-well as support for his family. Any donation no matter the size is incredibly appreciated.

El 18 de junio, mi cuñado Santiago Farias iba en bicicleta al trabajo como lo hace todas las mañanas durante los últimos 10 años. A mitad de viaje, un conductor de Prius impaciente intenta cortar el paso a un autobús de la ciudad que había indicado a Santiago que cruzara. Desafortunadamente, el conductor del Prius impacta a Santiago, arrojándolo contra el parabrisas y luego contra el concreto, donde se golpeo la cabeza. Lo llevaron de urgencia al hospital para estabilizarlo. Después esta transferido al departamento de cuidados intensivos donde en el transcurso de semanas, se recuperó de manera constante y esperanzadora.

Hoy el 17 de julio en la mañana durante fisioterapia, sufrió un infarto y quedó inconsciente. Luego de ser trasladado de urgencia para recibir atención médica, lamentablemente falleció. Era esposo, hijo, hermano, padre de 5 hijos y discípulo de Dios. Sabemos que Dios tiene un plan para todos nosotros y una vez que nuestro trabajo aquí esté terminado, seremos acogidos por el Señor. Una escritura en la Biblia dice:

"Le dijo Jesús: Yo soy la resurrección y la vida; el que cree en mí, aunque esté muerto, vivirá."
