In Memory of Sara Bellamy Hicks (1981 - 2024)
To remember Sara, a memorial fund has been established to support the future educational expenses of the Hicks Children. All contributions made through this GoFundMe page will be transferred to the Murray Bank who is managing the memorial fund.

Sara Renee Hicks, age 42, of Murray Kentucky, passed away on August 24th, 2024. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, after a 2+ year battle with breast cancer.

Sara was born on December 11, 1981, to Don and Marti Bellamy in Alexandria, Kentucky. Sara graduated from Campbell County High School in 2000. After graduation, she enrolled at Morehead State University. It was in Morehead where she met the love of her life, Brad Hicks, and countless life-long friends. Sara graduated from MSU in 2005. Upon graduation, she moved back to Northern Kentucky and continued her education at NKU where she obtained her Nursing degree. Sara worked as a home health nurse at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for many years.

Sara married her college sweetheart, Brad on October 27, 2007. The couple built a beautiful life together. They lived in Northern Kentucky for 13 years before moving to Murray in 2018. During their time in Murray, Sara established multiple small businesses including The Charming Child, an online and local in-house retail store for handmade hairbows and an online flower seed store, the Bloom Room now known as Seeds of Hope Flowers. These business ventures gave Sara the ability to devote her time to her most important job, being a mother.

Sara always wanted to be a mother, and her children were the most important part of her life. Sara leaves behind Braxton (age 13), Beckett (age 11), Cora (age 7) and Marley (age 5). The children were Sara’s pride and joy. She was a fun, outgoing and adventurous mother. Sara strived to pass down her zest for life to her children. One way she did this was by planning unique trips and excursions for the family. She loved to travel off of the beaten path and find the most unique places to stay and explore.

Sara also had a love for photography. She leaves behind countless family photos. She always had a camera or phone in hand and had an uncanny ability to capture things in the moment. Most of her adult life, and her children’s lives, were captured in photography, a visual memory of the good times.

While Sara lost her battle with cancer, during her last two years of life, she was revitalized by her diagnosis in ways that will leave a lasting impact on those who loved her. During this time, Sara found peace in prayer, positive affirmations, reflection in Christ, gardening, healthy eating, and enjoying the simple things. She continued to selflessly capture our every moments in photos, loved watching her flower gardens bloom new life, catching caterpillars with the girls to watch them turn into butterflies, and of course, being the absolute best Mom.

Sara is survived by her loving husband, Brad Hicks, the couple’s children, Braxton, Beckett, Cora and Marley all of Murray, her mother and father, Don and Marti Bellamy of Murray, one brother, Don (Donnie) Bellamy currently of Montana, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Patty and Ricky Hicks of Carlisle, Kentucky, brother-in-law Nathan Hicks, and sister-in-law Lacey Hicks also of Carlisle.

The funeral service honoring Sara's life will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray. Burial will follow at Murray City Cemetery.

Her family welcomes visitors from 10 am - 1 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Heritage Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Hicks Family Fund managed by Murray Bank. All contributions will be held for the future educational expenses of the Hicks children. Contributions can be made in person at the bank or mailed to the bank with reference to the Hicks Family Fund on the gift.

Imes Funeral Home is entrusted with caring for her family.
