An unthinkable tragedy has struck our family.
Sarah Elizabeth Mercer was torn from this life on the afternoon of Sunday, September 30, 2018. Sarah is the precious daughter of Linda and Steve Mercer (niece to Geri Cannon and Laura McSkeane.)
Sarah was brutally murdered while trying to remove a few remaining personal belongings at the home she had leased with her ex-roommate.
Sarah was an exuberant, loving, single mom with a 16 year old daughter who was the center of her world. She worked in sales to support the two of them. She was, as her dad likes to say, “An extrovert on steroids.” Everyone she met was a friend, never a stranger.
She loved her church fellowship, New Horizon Church in Fife, WA.
She was a musician and artist. She had a beautiful singing voice, and loved to worship. Sarah had a huge heart for the homeless in her neighborhood, and knew many of them by name. She fed them, prayed for them, and regularly checked in on them. Her senseless death leaves an incredible hole in the lives of her family and all those who knew her and loved her.
The costs involved in the murder of a loved one are daunting. Linda and Steve will become the legal guardians of their granddaughter and will need to put their retirement plans on indefinite hold to care for her. They will be the sole responsible persons for all monies allocated to this Go Fund Me account. The funds will be used for the considerable burial and legal expenses, and any potential extras will be dedicated to an account for their granddaughter.
Our hearts are broken for our precious family. There are no words to express our shock and sadness. No amount of money can ease the pain, but we ask humbly that you would consider giving to help ease the unexpected financial burdens they are facing.
We are grateful for all gifts, and especially grateful for continued prayer as our precious loved ones walk through this unspeakable tragedy.
