In Memory of Shaun Brady (17.03.65-16.05.20)
In memory of our Dad, Shaun Brady, who we lost to Covid-19, aged 55, on 16th May 2020, we are raising money for Football Beyond Borders.
Football Beyond Borders supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are passionate about football but disengaged at school. Operating in Greater Manchester, London and Essex, it uses football to help them finish school with the skills and grades to become a successful adult. They provide long term, intensive support from Year 8 onward, building around relationships and young people’s passions both in the classroom and beyond. It also offers weekly counselling to the students, as well as chances to meet Premier League players and attend Premier League and international football games.
All his life, Dad loved to play and referee football. In his younger years, he helped run community football teams and was a referee for multiple Wigan Sunday leagues.
His passion for football carried on at our Primary School, St Peters C of E in Hindley, Wigan, where he set up after school football clubs for children of all ages and backgrounds.
Dad also had a passion for charity. In his later years, he focused on raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Dementia UK.
Dad was born in a deprived area of Wigan and used football as a tool to pull himself out of hardship. We are sure that he would fully support the charity we have chosen.
Thank you for any and all donations in memory of our Dad.
