My name is Annessa Bunn, and I’m creating this go fund me on behalf of my forever chosen family. This family has endured loss, grief and heart ache for over a decade, and the recent unexpected loss of Star (Vernice) has put them all in utter despair. She was a remarkable individual who tragically passed away at the age of 29. Despite the challenges she faced as a gunshot survivor since the age of 12, Star showed immense courage, resilience, and determination throughout her life. Star was undeservedly and unimaginably struck by a stray bullet at only 12 years old. The bullet traveled through her brain, and the doctors gave them almost no hope. Star ultimately proved them wrong, though left permanently disabled, responded to her father’s voice and beat all odds against her. Star never regained her ability to walk, talk or live the beautiful life she deserved, but fought to make sure her family knew she was in there and wanted to be earthside and remain exactly what she was to all of them. Far too soon after Star prevailed, her father and the rock of the family, Steve passed away, followed by their Grandad, their light, and their pillar, Lex. As I type this story, I wish that the folks reading this knew all of them like I do. I cannot put their strength or perseverance into words, it doesn’t do them justice. Star inspired everyone around her with her unwavering strength and positive outlook on life. Now, as my family and I navigate the devastating loss of our beloved sister and daughter, we face the additional burden of funeral expenses and other financial obligations. Your donations will provide much needed support to our family during this difficult time, helping to alleviate the financial strain and allowing us to focus on grieving and healing.
