In Memory of Steve Hunter (Mr. Hunter)

On Saturday, July 1, 2023 Steve suffered a severe cardiac event and earned his wings to join the choir of angels in heaven.

Steve is survived by Heather, his loving wife and best friend of 25 years, his mother, his beloved dog, Aggie, and countless family members and friends.

Steve and Heather met at UB while studying to become teachers. Steve was a gifted and beloved music teacher who taught in Catholic Schools for 30 years, his final school being St. Mary’s Elementary School. Prior to teaching at SME, Steve shared his gifts with the communities of:

St. Amelia’s School
St. Paul’s School
Mary Queen of Angels School
Our Lady of Czestochowa School
Resurrection School
St. Joseph School University Heights
Lake Shore Schools

At SME, Mr. Hunter was an integral member of the school community. Not only did he teach music classes and instrument lessons, Mr. Hunter was the STREAM Coordinator, technology guru, cantor and musician for school Masses, morning student drop off greeter and gifter of dog treats to the dogs in the drop off line, school dismissal leader, cheerleader and frequent participant of the school lunch program, and a friend to all. Mr. Hunter was always willing to help out in any capacity.

This GoFund Me is created to help ease the financial burden that Heather will be experiencing due to the sudden and unexpected passing of the love of her life, Steve. Any amount of money that you donate in Steve’s memory is very much appreciated, and will be used for those purposes- the first being to help with funeral expenses.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Kazmierczak Funeral Home located at 3640 Clinton St, West Seneca, NY 14224.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Steve on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 9:30 AM, at St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church located at 1 St. Mary’s Hill Lancaster, NY 14086
