It is with heavy hearts and tearful eyes to announce the passing of our dad, Steve Kovac. On September 2nd, he passed peacefully in his sleep at home. His strong and fearless fight with cancer has come to an end.
Our dad was the most beautiful soul one could ever meet. He was devoted, selfless, loving, funny, and full of life. You could always count on him for anything, and always helped others with no hesitation. He always saw the good in everything and everyone. There wasn’t a day where he didn’t make sure that all was okay and taken care of, even up to his very last day with us. He made sure that you would laugh until you couldn’t laugh anymore with the best Donald Duck impression, with an even better Hulk Hogan impression ripping off his shirt, and with the best dad jokes. While our dad was going through all of this, he didn’t let it get in the way of being the goofball, beach lover, diehard Drag Racing fan, loving savior, and the strongest man we knew. He was such an amazing man, and did it so effortlessly.
He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Oral Cancer in July of 2022 and that's when he began his fight. Three months after his diagnosis, he underwent an extensive 16 hour surgery for the removal of his tongue and had one constructed. As time went on, chemotherapy was not working as we thought it would. The cancer was spreading through his body; to his lungs and thyroid. With being in and out of the hospital, the doctors concluded that there was no better treatment available given the circumstance of his cancer. Shortly after, we decided Hospice care was the best choice to make him as comfortable as possible. As he was home getting care, he was still full of life and the funny man that he was.
During this extremely difficult time, we are reaching out for support to cover funeral expenses as well as additional expenses in order for our dad to rest peacefully.
