In Memory of Steve “Tookey” Shelley: Support for Memorial

I feel this speaks for many, especially our family, when I say our world was shattered by the sudden loss of Steve "Tookey" Shelley.

Tookey was a father to three beautiful children, a sibling, an uncle to so many, a cousin, a nephew, and a best friend to handfuls. He was the life of every event, sharing endless stories from the funniest to the wildest, always ready with a joke to make everyone laugh in any given place. If you took a look at him on any given day, you would find his tripod in hand as he enjoyed capturing memories in all places, from his short walk to Dunkin around the corner to any celebration event. Tookey had a wild heart and was always up to something. He loved spending his free time outdoors, hiking, canoeing, and taking local trips. Most of all, Tookey cherished his time with family. Born and raised on 135th Street in Harlem, NY, he later moved to NJ, where he spent many and most of his best years with his best friend Connie, raising a family together.

Steve Shelley was the type of person that you can always rely on. If you needed help, you knew to call him. He had a big heart and loved many. He endured his fight as long as he could, but the Lord knew it was time and has called him home on the evening of May 31st, 2024.

His closest family and friends were unprepared for the suddenness of his passing, and in just a week and a half, our lives have changed drastically. While we are deeply saddened by this loss, we ask that you hold onto the best memories of Tookey. Please keep his children and family in your prayers. Sip a Corona, enjoy the outdoors, and capture life's moments with your camera. Celebrate life while you can, just as Tookey did.

As this was something we were all unprepared for, especially his children, we are seeking assistance with a fund to support the family in this time of need in any amount, if at all possible.
