In Memory of Steven Farkas

Hello, My name is Christina, and I am Steven's Step Daughter. My mother had the idea of wanting to "Pay it forward" and assist many deserving caregivers who are currently blessing other families with the peace of mind we had when Steven was under their care.
Please take the time to read the statement she has prepared and consider helping us show these wonderful people how grateful we all are! Thank you.
"Steven Farkas was born to two orphaned parents in Budapest, Hungary, in 1959. At a very young age, Steven's family left Hungary and moved to Switzerland, then later to Canada, Florida and then Round Rock & Pflugerville.
In 2013, at age 54 Steven was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. A neurodegenerative
disorder that affects predominately the dopamine-producing area of the brain called the substantia nigra. Then was later diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Lewy body dementia (LBD) is associated with abnormal deposits of a protein called alpha-synuclein in the brain. These deposits, called Lewy bodies, affect chemicals in the brain whose changes, in turn, can lead to problems with thinking, movement, behavior, and mood.
Fighting this illness was the most challenging journey for us but what broke my heart the most throughout the process was the lack of quality care available.
The various rehabs and nursing facilities we looked into or experienced firsthand were extremely sad. After many prayers and hard work, we were blessed to finally find quality care for my husband's final days with us. I was determined that if my husband had to live with this horrible disease, I would do whatever it took to provide him with quality care. People who would treat him as I would, people who connected with him. Not everyone is fortunate enough to find it…but we certainly did.
I am forever grateful to what I now call "Our A Team" It honestly takes a village to care for a loved one with Parkinson's. I dedicated my life to caring for him, but so did Our A Team! These people have compassion for caring for their patients; this is what they love doing. It's not an easy job, and usually not a very rewarding job monetarily, but they do it daily. This team worked long hours, made exceptions, and went above and beyond to accommodate my high expectations.
My heart's desire is that through my husband's life and our loss, we can be a blessing to the people who were a part of this team and that they may be encouraged through our kindness to continue doing what they love, continue loving on these elders and making a difference in their lives. I would love to honor my husband's life by paying it forward.
A gentleman at the home where he stayed hasn't been able to pay his rent for months, yet is still being cared for with so much love. This is why this team means so much to me. If you would like to join us in paying it forward to some ordinary people who do the incredible work day in and day out to allow their patients to live out their final days with love and dignity, I encourage you and thank you for doing so.
These funds will also enable them to replace or purchase equipment or supplies needed or whatever their current need is. I trust that any seed planted with this cause will be fruitful. Thanks for all the prayers, love and support from my family to yours. Your generosity and kindness are appreciated. God bless you!
Love you Mr. Farkas! ❤️
