In Memory of Steven Wayne Dittmer
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nicole Dittmer (30) from Bettendorf, Iowa. I am one of 3 daughters to Steve. He was just 56 years old on October 8, 2019 when my father tragically took his own life. It is coming up on 2 years now since I've seen his face, heard his voice, had a hug or laughed with him. My heart will forever be broken that he was taken far too soon. His story was cut short.
As much as I wish I could go back in time and change things, I can't. So my hope is to use this terrible event that forever changed my life, to help change someone else's in a positive way.
I am creating this fundraiser to help raise money to make a memorial donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The plan is to raise money and make the donation on November 10th, which would have been his 58th birthday.
September happens to be Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month. Today specifically is World Suicide Prevention day. This day tugs at my heart a little stronger. What I wouldn't give to go back and ask my Dad if he was okay, if he needed to talk, if he had any thoughts of flipping everyones world upside down with his actions. I would let him know that if he answered yes, that that was okay. Because it's true, it's okay to not be okay. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to show emotion and need some sort of positive outlet to help get back on track.
Please help in any way you can to help end the stigma. Please donate or share the post to help raise money to donate in memory of my amazing father. My best friend.
Donations can be made directly on here, or can be made to my venmo, paypal, or cashapp that will then all be transferred 100% to the non profit orginization.
If a monetary donation can not be made, please please please either way, check on your loved ones. Say hello to a stranger with a smile, it may be enough to change their day and fight their demons, just for one day at a time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and helping any way you can.
