Swati Tyagi Memorial Fund

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, we lost our colleague and friend, Swati Tyagi, when a driver in a car struck her from behind while she was riding on her bike. This GoFundMe page has been established by her colleagues at the Salk Institute to help provide emergency assistance to Swati’s husband, Ashim Rai, 11 month old son, Miransh and family. All funds raised by this page will provide urgent and needed assistance to her family as they try and absorb this devastating loss.

An accomplished scientist who joined Salk in 2016 as a research associate in the Hetzer lab, Swati received numerous recognitions for her outstanding work and was a recipient of the 2017 Salk Women & Science Special Award. Her most recent paper, “High-precision mapping of nuclear pore-chromatin interactions reveals new principles of genome organization at the nuclear envelope ,” was shared with the scientific community in May 2021.
