This past Mother’s Day marked 10 years of the tragic unsolved murder of Tanya Brooks,36, Millbrook, Nova Scotia. Tanya was discovered in the window well of St. Patrick’s-Alexandra School in Halifax the following day. The case remains still unsolved, leaving the family in limbo while awaiting justice.
The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls will formally present its Final Report to the federal, provincial and territorial governments at a public closing ceremony in Gatineau, Quebec on June 3, 2019.
Tanya’s sister Vanessa, (shown here outside the school) was just one of the 1484 family members and survivors of violence who shared during their cross Canada inquiry during the stop in Nova Scotia in 2017.
This fundraiser is to help Vanessa and her support person Tevin, Tanya nephew, cover some of their expenses of the travel to Quebec. They will honour all women and girls in our province.
