In memory of Tanya Eickhoff

As many of you may have heard, Tanya Maria Eickhoff passed away on March 26, 2023, after a very sudden battle with cancer. After a few weeks of intense abdominal pain, she received checked herself into St. Mary's hospital and received the final diagnosis on March 17th. It was a death sentence. Stage four stomach cancer.

It was believed that with immediate treatment beginning with chemotherapy she could live another two years, and she faced the oncoming fight determined to give it her all. She was less scared of the cancer than she was scared of leaving her family alone in this world.

Treatment began Wednesday morning, March 22nd, however, by evening the cancer had begun to aggressively spread throughout her body. By Friday, March 24, she lost consciousness and it was clear that she did not have much time left. Tanya passed on Sunday at 3p.m. at St. Mary's hospital, surrounded by friends and family.

Her husband Derek was stopped by many of the hospital staff on his way out, from doctors to orderlies who wanted to give their condolences. Every one of them commented on how kind she was. Even in her worst hour Tanya could not stop being her best self.

Tanya was a caring wife to the love of her life, Derek, a dutiful daughter to her mother Erika, and a devoted mom to her miracle baby Imogen. She was an awesome friend to many people in our community.

She was so giving, and loved unconditionally. She was also fearless and a force of nature who never compromised her principals or stopped fighting for what she believed in.

Your donations will be transferred to her husband Derek to help him navigate the next months. We will inform you when a funeral is held, but we know already that it will not be immediately and we thank you for your patience.

Tanya meant so much to so many people. She touched many lives and was touched by many lives. A bright star has gone out.
