In Memory of Tracey Sharmaine Adams

On July 26 2018, my beloved aunt, Tracey Sharmaine Adams passed away at the age of 49.  My family and I are deeply saddened by this loss as she was an incredible woman, aunt, singer and caretaker.

Tracey was born in Seguin and raised in Lockhart, TX. Along with her seven siblings, she was very popular and active in the Lockhart community through out her teenage years. In 1988, Tracey moved to Washington, DC to help her older sister Renae Ngati with her first born son which happened to be myself, Steven Ngati. Tracey spent the next 19 years of her life helping raise myself and my younger brother Bryan Ngati who was born in 1991. Tracey was instrumental in helping my brother and I alongside our parents find a home church at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church. Tracey and I helped start the Circle of God choir as she also served as a youth coordinator and ultimately a musical director at the church. Tracey spent much of her time organizing church plays and musicals, while also performing as a solo singer on countless Sundays.

In 2007, Tracey moved to Florida to spend time with her younger brothers David and Harold Adams. In Florida, she assisted in youth support as David and Harold coached at Westlake Preparatory School & Academy. Tracey moved back home to Texas in 2009 living in Austin. She joined Greater Calvary Bible Church in January 2009 establishing a new home under Reverend Sterling Lands.

Unfortunately, Tracey suffered a severe stroke which rendered the entire right side of her body function less. She moved to Magnolia Nursing home in Luling, TX for rehabilitation purposes. Even though Tracey required full living assistance for the rest of her life she made the most of each and every day. Her infectious personality was on full display for every nurse and fellow patient that came across her path. Tracey's incredible personality rose so big in the community that she was named an honorary Luling Thump Queen in 2012. Tracey returned home to Lockhart, TX in 2017 to continue her rehab and treatment at Parkview Nursing and Rehab.

While we are mourning Tracey's loss we certainly want to remember Tracey's life in a positive light and celebrate her legacy. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Tracey you were certainly blessed with a mixture of comedy, sass, love and genuine joyfulness.

We are asking for help with donations from friends and family to assist with Tracey's burial wishes and overall funeral expenses. She was unable to receive life insurance due to her critical heart ailments from a young age. On behalf of my friends and family, we would be forever grateful for any assistance we receive.

Tracey is survived by her two sons Steven and Bryan (Blood don't matter she claimed us as her kids and rightfully so.) Her parents Virgil and Nannie Taylor Jr. Her brothers Art and David and her sisters Renae, Deborah, Sandra and Tommy Shay.

During this time of mourning I ask that you keep Tracey's spirit, and my entire family in your prayers. I truly believe Tracey has gone home to continue to serve under our savior Jesus Christ, while getting the opportunity to see her mother Helen Louise Adams and her younger brother Harold Darnell Adams who passed away in 2014 at the age of 42.
