In Memory of Willie O'Brien

I am organising a club 7's hurling and camogie adult tournament in memory of my dad, Willie O'Brien, from Knockainey, who passed away in his sleep from SADS in August 2006, aged 27 years old. This will be a once off event in his honour.

The tournament will take place in Knocklong Sportsfield on Sunday 5th of May, with all proceeds being donated to the Dillon Quirke Foundation in order to support the amazing work that they do.

Last October, the Limerick All-Ireland winning intermediate team of 1998 were honoured at half time of the senior county final in Limerick, and I was asked to represent my dad. Meeting so many of his former teammates was an amazing opportunity for me, hearing stories and people speaking so highly of him, which has really motivated me to do something in his honour.

All proceeds will go to the Dillon Quirke Foundation, who have been immense in providing awareness towards Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), and screening young people to prevent future cases.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
