My wife Shannon Smith-Limaldi was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in April of 2021. She started chemo on May 25th which happens to be the anniversary of our civil union. The cancer spread to her liver. After numerous treatments, and surgery's the cancer then spread to her lungs. She fought with all the fight she had in her. She was put on hospice December 12th. After a week and a day she passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 20th. Unfortunately, the life insurance she had did not mature in time. I am asking for help because I now have to take care of all the bills with my income alone.
The last 2 1/2 years was extremely hard for the both of us. I was her caregiver while working full time, managing the house and caring for our 2 dogs at the time. Took her to numerous doctor appointments and also to treatments. She had to have a port put in to receive the chemo. My wife also had several surgeries at the University of Pennsylvania which is an hour away and the longest surgery was about 5 Hours. But one surgery she had, they put a pump in to fill with chemo that would go directly into her liver. So we had to take a trip to Philly every other week to ensure that pump was working properly. And to have a needle put directly into the pump filled with chemo. It was fascinating to watch but at the same time, it was hard. Watching my wife go through this process and then lose her, has been the hardest thing I ever had to deal with.
For those that didn't know my wife Shannon, she raised 2 amazing kids and she was a cheer mom to her daughter. Her son is a musician that use to be in a band and we would go see play several times, and he is now a dad. Our grandson will be 6 months old the end of January. My 2 step kids are now grown and doing amazingly and she was so proud of them. I am also extremely proud of them and love them dearly.
Before Shannon got sick she enjoyed several activities. Bowling for one because that's how we met. I joined an all ladies bowling league in 2004 so we would have been friends 20 years this October. We also played softball together. At first she was a spectator but then she saw how much fun it was and wanted to play. She also had several hobbies. Such as painting, drawing, knitting, crocheting and we also had the pleasure of riding motorcycles.together. She also absolutely LOVED LOVED the beach. As do I, that's why we moved to the shore.
She was the type of person that ALWAYS wanted to help people. Even while she was sick and especially before . She was there to always listen and not be judgmental. I am just amazed the effect she had on so many from her strength, courage and even her positivity through it all. She was an AMAZING woman and was loved by so many. She will be missed but will remain with us all.
I LOVE YOU BABY!!......MORE ❤️❤
