support for Gazan family,s reunification
Urgent fundraising for the reunification of the Abualaish family, from Jabalia, Northern Gaza.
Until this past August, Wesam, 39, and her son Mohammad, 14, lived in the Jabalia camps of Northern Gaza. Deciding to immigrate after Wesam had a strong gut instinct she needed to leave, they migrated to Athens, leaving behind her husband and Mohammad's father, Taysir, and their entire family in Gaza.
Since October 7th, the home and community they left behind has been destroyed and the Abualaish’s have lost many members. Taysir was injured, limiting his vision - and fled to Rafah to seek urgent medical treatment abroad. Meanwhile, the family remaining in the north has faced starvation, including Wesam's mother, currently battling breast cancer.
In the time since, Wesam and Mohammad have immigrated to Brussels. While working to create a new life for herself and her teenage son, Wesam hopes to raise money to send to her starving family in the North, as well as fund husband's safe passage from Rafah to seek necessary surgery abroad. Without it, doctors have said Taysir will lose his vision completely. They are desperately working towards family reunification with the imminent aggression on Rafah — receiving funding is urgent.
This fundraiser will cover the costs of Wesam's travel to Egypt to pay for her husband's passage, Egyptian border costs, the surgery required for Taysir's hopeful recovery, and help support their new life as they settle into Brussels. Any amount, big or small, is appreciated.
