In Remembrance of Angela Risi

On the morning of Monday, October 2nd, my sister Angela Marina Risi, who was pursuing her MFA in Dance at Duke University in Durham NC, was shot and killed in her home. This devastating news has rocked our family and has left us all in a state of shock and profound sadness. Angela was a gentle and compassionate soul who was a light in the life of anyone who knew her. She was quirky, eccentric, and bursting with intelligence and talent, but we will never get to know how the rest of her story would have unfolded.

I have set up this GoFundMe page for anyone who wishes to contribute to my family and help support us during this difficult time. Funds will be used to take care of some immediate travel and shipping costs related to getting her remains back home to San Diego and settling her estate on the opposite side of the county. Money contributed will also be used to fund a celebration of life memorial for Angela, the date of which is still to be determined. Feel free to share this if Angela’s life touched you in any way.

Thank you so much everyone for the incredible outpouring of support. We not only met our initial goal in the first 6 hours but in less than 24 hours we have doubled it! All of you contributing and extending your love to our family means the world to us. Because of your generosity my parents have already been able to book their travel to Durham without having the added stress of finances on top of everything else.
