In Rogers' Honor

Donation protected
We are setting up this page to focus our efforts on supporting organizations & initiatives working to serve our Veterans. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, our family would appreciate donations made here... in Rogers' honor.

The family will donate all contributions, in Nolan's name, to the following:

Wounded Warrior Project

Mission: WWP provides free programs and services to address the needs of wounded warriors and fill gaps in government care. They serve, injured veterans, their families, and caregivers by providing free mental health and wellness, physical health and wellness, career and benefits counseling, and support for the most severely injured. Their long-term strategic goal is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

With emphasis on their core programs - Outreach and Engagement, Mental Health Support, Physical Health & Wellness, and Financial Assistance, Employment, and Education – Wounded Warrior Project works to confront the spectrum of barriers to successful reintegration that many veterans face.

“…Over 76% of our warriors self-report struggling with PTSD. That’s what drives our programming. We have been deeply immersed in the Mental and Brain Health Space for years. Matter of fact, it is our largest program investment because we know the need is there and the need is growing… “ –  MICHAEL RICHARDSON (LT. COL. Ret.), VP of Independence Services & Mental Health, WWP

Veterans Expeditions

Mission: Founded on the concept that the healing force of nature combined with vigorous outdoor experiences would be tonic for vets; giving them a way to reconnect with fellow soldiers, get outside and push themselves in a healthy environment. VetEx, a grassroots organization, prides themselves on having a soldier by solider, hands on approach that larger organizations struggle to provide. From mountaineering to fly fishing expeditions, to helping vets find jobs in the outdoor sector. At the end of the day, their mission is getting Vets outside; allowing & encouraging them to enjoy the wild places that they served to protect, while changing their lives.

"Vets often go from a world with deep camaraderie, commitment, and excitement to a world where they are isolated, at loose ends, and bored…our approach is strategic and holistic — focusing on three main areas — the mind, body, and giving back purpose." – Nick Watson, former US Army Ranger & FOUNDER of Veterans Expeditions

The Headstrong Project

Mission: Providing cost-free, bureaucracy-free, stigma-free, confidential, and effective mental health treatment for post-9/11 Veterans and their families. Not all wounds are physical – The Headstrong Project works to heal hidden wounds; providing care for Veterans, but the right kind of care. Having a team led by Veterans who have been through the [VA] process, gives the group a leg-up in focusing on exactly what veterans need.

“One of the touchstones at Headstrong is not just providing care for Veterans, but providing the right kind of care… And going through the system myself, it’s a big bureaucracy. It took a solid year plus after leaving the service to even get enrolled in the VA…and weeks to get an appointment. I get there, this giant intimidating hospital. It’s trying to treat so many people in a mass way. When you’re talking about mental health, it’s not just one of those things where you can line up all the Veterans and just give them a Band-Aid or magic pill. It’s work, right? You have to have a tailored approach.” – Joe Quinn, US Army Veteran & Executive Director of The Headstrong Project
