Hi, This is Sarah and Luke McCready. We are friends of Tyler (Ty) Joplin, who lost his father, Johnny Joplin this past weekend on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025. We are setting up this site to support Ty after this devastating, sudden loss and tragedy of losing Johnny.

Due to this sudden loss, a will had not been prepared. Johnny was the sole-provider for Ty and also supported his family in many ways. An overwhelming responsibility has fallen on Ty, a 19 year old freshman at Boston College. Ty's scholarships will assist with school through graduation.

****This cost would include service at St Thomas Aquinas, Funeral Home (14,000), Casket, Headstone and burial costs. As costs are coming in, it's increased the goal. (Timing for Harlingen won't work out, so adjusted costs)

Johnny was born June 18th, 1961.
He attended North Garland High School where many of his family members also attended. Johnny was always athletic, playing football and running track at North Garland. He also proudly wore #13 at SMU where he played cornerback, wide-receiver and also returned punts and kicks. He loved playing for SMU. He also double majored in Business and Psychology (1979-1983) One of his greatest honors was playing on national TV as part of the Pony Express. As an active SMU alumna, you could always see him on the boulevard every season as a proud SMU Letterman. If he wasn't playing football, you could find him on the golf course! He had a passion for golf which also filtered to Tyler. Both spent many mornings enjoying the outdoors, beautiful landscapes and 18 holes. Johnny was a great coach. He was patient, encouraging and inspired many. Johnny was a volunteer and proud supporter of the First Tee Greater Dallas.

Those who knew Johnny will say he will always be remembered for his giving heart, always offering a helping hand while never asking for anything in return. Johnny was a servant to his community, his family and his church. He will be remembered for his welcoming smile at Mass and his serving spirit at St Thomas. St. Thomas became Tyler's home as well, attending school PreK3-8th grade. They also shared a servant heart. Starting at the age of 8, Tyler started ushering with his father every Sunday. Their smiles could be seen while ushering together on Sunday mornings. They were always up for fellowship after mass, sharing coffee and donuts in St Anne's Hall. For 11 years, they shared a bond serving our community together. Johnny loved watching Tyler grow and become the strong, intelligent, ambitious young man he is today. His greatest joy was being a father to Tyler.

Ty would greatly appreciate any support at this time. It's impossible to imagine the grief of losing a parent at 19. Not only that, but having the financial burden fall on only you. All funds will go directly to Ty to cover funeral expenses and also lessen any additional burden he will face within the next coming months. Let's remember Johnny and also show love and support Ty in this difficult time.

Thank you,
Sarah & Luke
