In Support of The Guide Dogs for the Blind
Donation protected
I am Alan Fortuin, and in December 2025, under the team name The Old See Dogs, I will be rowing 3,000 miles, solo and unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean. I will be competing in a race called The Worlds Toughest Row, in order to raise funds for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
To give some perspective to this challenge, you should be aware that more people have climbed Mount Everest, and indeed been into Space than have rowed an Ocean. The majority of those that have completed an Ocean row, have done so either as a pair or as a four. This makes my attempt, as a solo rower, all the more interesting.
I have been training for this event since February 2020, and as at today, 20 March 2024, I have completed 22,000,000 meters, the equivalent of over 4 Atlantic crossings, and by the start of the race I will have completed in excess of 35,000,000 meters, the equivalent of over 7 Atlantic crossings.
The operating costs for this event (purchase of the boat, race fees, equipment, shipping etc.) comes to £120,000. I have personally contributed £10,000 and that is why I need your support to fund the deficit. I know that this is a huge target to have set, but I am confident, that once the boat has been purchased and the race completed, that £1,000,000 plus could be raised for The Guide Dogs.
In addition to donations raised via GoFundMe, I am seeking individuals to join The Old See Dogs "TEAM", further details of how to join the "TEAM", the race and me (the rower), can be found on my website oldseedogs.com
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Alan
