Support for the Auberge Parker's Lodge Fire

Donation protected

It is with sad and heavy hearts that on Tuesday, July 28th, 2022, an incredible fire took place at Auberge Parker's Lodge, in Val-David, Quebec.

Unfortunately, the fire destroyed the entire lodge, and the lodge owners, Jan and Malgorzata Krupinski lost everything. The fire was so severe and swift that both Jan and Malgorzata barely made it out. Fortunately, they escaped but could only make it out with the clothes on their backs.

History:
Located within the Laurentian Mountains and at the foot of Lac Paquin, Parker’s Lodge goes back more than 60 years. This charming country inn had four floors and a small cottage on the side of Lake Paquin. There were sixteen rooms, a ground floor with a huge double room, and a basement that could be used as a meeting room, a poolroom / table tennis room, and a dance hall. The walls had a country-style wallpaper, and each of the 10 bedroom doors had Canadian and Provincial territories' coats of arms. On the third floor, four huge rooms complete the lodging area. The lodge was outfitted with antiques here and there, with a view of the small sympathetic and peaceful lake behind. In 2011, Jan and Malgorzata Krupinski took ownership of the lodge. With their warm and friendly hearts, they would host people from all around the world who would come to see them and enjoy a wonderful time away within the depths of the Laurentian Mountains.

Our Polish Community and PISK:
For our Polish Community, Parker's Lodge was a place where we grew up together every year during our PISK Ski Trip retreats held annually over the Family Day / Valentine’s Day Long Weekend. During these past 10 years, PISK, or Polish Students' Initiative of Canada, brought Polish youth and students together at the Lodge, where we would escape from our heavy books, and connect with friends across Ontario. Some would even come from abroad to join us. Every year in February, youth would make the 7+ hour drive through heavy snow storms and blistering coldness to be warmly greeted by Jan & Malgorzata Krupinski. Through their delicious food, musical talent, homemade “bimber”, and their warm family-like Polish hospitality, every minute spent at Parker’s Lodge was a serene experience with a stunning view of the lake behind us, surrounded by the beauty of winter. Whether it was hitting up the Ski Hills at the Laurentian Mountains nearby (Mont. Tremblant, Saint-Sauver, etc.), to the warm waters of the Scandinavian spas down the highway, we would always make it back to the lodge for a lovely evening of food, drinks, and warm company amongst our best friends.

How you can help:
This fundraiser will go towards financial support for Jan and Malgorzata Krupinski. It will help them rebuild and grow stronger, and money will be used to support them for repairs, clothes, food, and the necessities required.
