Kai Haynes Music Scholarship

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone's help we went over our goal of $10k after the celebration of life concert on 4/19. We have updated the goal to $15k!

On the morning of January 4th, my father, Kai Edward Haynes, passed away peacefully in Charleston, West Virginia, his beloved birthplace and hometown. He had almost completed 74 years of life on this earth before crossing over to join his ancestors.

Kai's life was inseparable from music. It was one of his greatest passions, and he always strived for artistic excellence, particularly in the musical canon. He spent 58 years completely devoted to it.

Kai started his professional music career at 15 with the King Sound Interpreters. He went on to play with many incredible bands, including Joi, Bob Thompson Trio, Silver Penny, the Voodoo Katz, Electro Biscuit, and, most recently, The New Old Souls.

Throughout his life and through his music, Kai is best known for being one of the kindest and most joyful individuals that people have ever known. His strong reputation and, of course, renowned smile and laugh are something all of us should hope to emulate. This is why so many of you have reached out to me and my family to ask how you can support Kai's legacy.

I will update everyone as plans continue to materialize and share how funds will be used.
