Please consider donating to support Greg’s niece Audrey, who he helped raise with love and grace, in her education and future endeavors to fulfill her dreams.

Gregory Wayne Iglesia had a heart of gold and was the most loyal son, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. Born and raised in Baltimore, Greg was a die-hard Orioles and Ravens fan! His nieces and nephews called him UG(Uncle G), and he was always there to celebrate their birthdays, achievements and milestones. To UG, family was everything and he believed in raising the next generation to be independent men and women, especially his niece, Audrey, for whom he served as a father figure and always bestowed unconditional love.
Greg passed away suddenly at his home in Stafford, Virginia on January 8, 2025 at the age of 56. Born on September 19, 1968 to Dr. Wenifredo Nada and Margaret Resos Iglesia, he was the youngest of the four Iglesia siblings. Growing up, Greg was a huge sports fan and had quite a collection of baseball cards, figurines, comic books and sports memorabilia. He also played soccer and tennis at McDonogh where he attended from lower school until he graduated in the class of1986. After high school, Greg attended the Johns Hopkins University and received a BS in Materials Science and Engineering followed by Masters work at the University of California, Santa Barbara. For the past 25 years, Greg has worked at Axseum, a government contracting company with the U.S. Department of Defense, within the DTRA defense threat reduction agency. Greg’s work entailed high security details related to national and international affairs, and he was quite respected and regarded in the field.

Greg was also a fun-loving Game of Thrones aficionado. His eclectic desk at work was a topic of conversation because of theshow, movie and sports collectibles surrounding his work space. Greg’s gentle soul, warm smile and voice memos will be missed by so many, but the joy and generosity that he brought to others will never be forgotten. We will always remember his incredible dedication family, and how he taught us all to continue living life to the fullest.
Greg is predeceased by his father, Dr. Wenifredo Iglesia, and brother ,Robert Alan. He is survived by his sisters Cheryl (Jonathan Lessin) and Lori, mother Margaret, and nieces Audrey, Brittany, Julie, Alexandra and Angelica and nephews/cousins Benjamin, Regan Iglesia (Donna), Ron Novicio (Griska), Maria Novicio (Ryan), Jennifer Gamboa (Alan) and Tory, Zach, Sean, Madison, Matthew, Micheal and Brandon, as well as dozens of other extended Iglesia family members.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the gofundme for Audrey Iglesia’s educational fund to support her goal and aspiration of becoming an accomplished singer/actress. Thank you all for loving Uncle Greg just as much as we did. He was truly one of the best and will be dearly missed.
