Hi my name is Gabriel, It is with the utmost of heaviest hearts that we share with you the unexpected passing of our beloved daughter, Sarah – my Xena Warrior Princess.

On Saturday, November 25th the family was enjoying thanksgiving weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona. Sarah couldn’t make it home for Thanksgiving, so the family traveled to Sarah. It was Sarah’s first semester attending Northern Arizona University as a transfer engineering student, and we wanted to spend the holiday weekend together. Saturday morning, just a few hours before we were supposed to return home to California, she complained of stomach pains. The plan was to take her to the doctors to look into the pain. While we were preparing to take her to the doctors or hospital, she passed out onto her mother’s arms and went into cardiac arrest.

Together, my wife and I did all we could to try and resuscitate her while they waited for the paramedics to arrive. The seconds turned to long drawn-out minutes. Upon immediate arrival to the hospital, Sarah was stabilized and rushed into surgery, but too much time had passed without oxygen. After days in ICU, multiple tests, and surgery, the efforts to save her was not enough. She never woke up, as Sarah was on to her next journey.

Sarah’s story:

Sarah was 24 years young!!! with her whole life ahead of her. She was a literal ray of sunshine in the lives of everyone around her, regardless of whether you knew her personally or not. Her unique and positive spirit always made others feel special and valued, as she was someone who loved everyone. She was always ready and willing to help anyone, putting their needs ahead of her own. She had a different and refreshing perspective on life, and her youthfulness was contagious.

Sarah was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, and friend. She was the perfect mix of a tom-boy, girly-girl. She was gorgeous, and many underestimated her beauty. According to Sarah (Xena), she could do anything a man could do and would prove it to you. She lived life to the fullest in her short time with us.

Sarah loved to try EVERYTHING, she hiked, fished, biked, gone camping, dirt bike riding, movies, horses, track and field, volleyball, carpentry, repairing her car, working out, a Star Wars fan, Harry Potter Fan, Performing Arts, helping others, singing and MOST OF ALL she loved dancing!!!

Sarah was a dancer for most of her life. She learned ballet, jazz, and tap. She loved dancing and was a dance teacher to students at Dancemaker. With her talent, grace, and sense of humor, she brought joy and inspiration to her students. She helped nurture their love for dance and helped them discover their unique abilities.

Sarah loved watching movies. Horror movies were her favorite movie genre and she had a remarkable talent of being able to quote a movie line-for-line. She was handy, as she liked to build, paint, and create things, not only for herself, but for her family, friends and dance community. She loved to write notes in cursive, she said she liked to watch a pen print these beautiful cursive letters on a blank piece of page. Sarah also knew how to draw – What a talented young Woman

She was so happy living her dream and enjoying her independence to the fullest extent. Attending NAU had been a goal of hers since her freshman year at Covina High School.

Even at the very end she still desired to help others. Sarah was a registered Organ Donor, and her wish was to donate her organs to those that need a little help to survive. She was loud, funny, and a true gift to this earth. A gift that was taken too soon.
A quote she liked and tried to live by and hopes her friends, family and everyone remember:

“Don’t let the fear of striking out stop you from taking a swing”.

Our Call to Action:
