In Memory of Simon Myers (nee Hammond)

My name is Natalie and Simon was my closest friend for over 26 years. On the 17th August 2022 I had the phone call everybody dreads. I found out that Simon had taken his own life.

Simon was an amazing and creative soul. He made me laugh in ways like no one else could, nor ever will. There a piece missing from many peoples lives now.

He had always tried to encourage people to speak up and seek support during difficult times.

I know that his passing has devastated a number of lives, including my own. I’m just so sorry to have lost him.

I am trying to raise money for the following causes:

Firstly, I’d like to fund some form of memorial for Simon. One idea is to have a bench placed somewhere in Simons memory and to have it act as a place for people to meet/reflect/talk, if they are struggling. What kind of memorial I can do for him depends on what I am able to raise. A bench placed somewhere is around £2,500.

Secondly, some of the money raised would be donated to ‘Mind’ in Simon’s memory. Simon had made his own efforts to raise money for this charity during his life. It’s a charity I also hold dear to my heart due to a number of reasons.

Times are difficult for many people right now, but if you have any amount you can spare to support this for Simon’s memory, that would be wonderful.
