Help Us Tell Anna Campbell’s Story - InAnna

Baraka Teatro is creating a new play: InAnna. Let us tell you why...Anna Campbell, a 26-year-old British woman and sister of the company´s actress, Sara Campbell, was killed by the Turkish army on March 15, 2018 in a bombing raid in Afrin, Syria. She had traveled to Rojava to join the YPJ eleven months earlier.
The complex web of international political interests prevented Anna's family from recovering her body, but not from traveling to Syria in search of answers to fill the void that remained after her death.
We recognize in our times the tragedy in which one fragile human being rebels against an order that condemns them to perpetual defeat. The validity of the Antigone myth is manifested in this ancestral combat that makes us question the very meaning of the struggle. Possibly, as Juan Mayorga affirms, the true defeat would be if the fight did not take place at all. Anna´s story must be told. We want to tell it through the poetry and magic of the stage. Baraka Teatro esta creando una nueva obra: InAnna. Os contamos por qué... Anna Campbell, joven británica de 26 años y hermana de la actriz de la compañía Sara Campbell, fue asesinada por el ejercito turco el 15 de marzo de 2018 en un bombardeo en Afrin, Siria. Había viajado hasta Rojava para unirse a las YPJ once meses antes.
El complejo entramado de intereses políticos internacionales impidió a la familia de Anna recuperar su cuerpo, no así viajar hasta Siria en busca de respuestas para llenar el vacío que les quedó tras su muerte.
Reconocemos en nuestro tiempo la tragedia en la que un pequeño ser humano se rebela contra un orden que la condena a la perpetua derrota. La vigencia del mito de Antígona se manifiesta en este combate ancestral que nos hace cuestionar el sentido mismo de la lucha. Posiblemente, como afirma Juan Mayorga, la verdadera derrota sería que no se diese el combate.
