Inclusive Play Equipment for Brayden's School
Donation protected
Greetings! My name is Ashley and my son, Brayden, would like to raise money to purchase a dual swing set for his school to allow some inclusive play for his peers who use a wheelchair or other adaptive equipment. Today we attended a school function and we saw several schoolmates who were not able to enjoy the playground because it was not ADA friendly. On our way home, we talked as a family about what we could do to help other kids enjoy recess just like he does. We watched a news story about a 5th grade classroom from Minnesota who raised enough money to build an ADA friendly playground for their disabled peers. This news story moved him and brought him to tears and he is now determined to raise enough money to provide some play equipment for kids of all abilities to enjoy!
Here is what Brayden has to say:
“Hi, my name is Brayden, and I am a third grader at an elementary school in West Bend, Wisconsin. I am looking to raise money to buy a swing set for kids at my school with disabilities. During recess, kids get to run and play all over the playground, fields, and blacktop. Some of my friends who use a wheelchair are stuck on the blacktop and only play with chalk or a ball during recess. This makes me sad because every kid should have lots of fun during recess. The money would be used to purchase the dual swing set and allow for a safe installation. I would like to surprise my friends with a piece of the playground that is just for them!”
We appreciate any contribution to Brayden’s passion project. He is so excited to see his friends with a big smile when they can swing just like everyone else does!
