So often children with developmental challenges are told, “you can’t,” but what happens when we tell ALL of our children, “you can!” regardless of individual differences? This “can do” idea has inspired the Lynn Vocational Technical Institute’s (LVTI) SkillsUSA team to create an inclusive playground at Harrington Elementary School in Lynn, MA, but we NEED your help!

What’s an inclusive playground?
An inclusive playground allows students to effectively remove the barriers from children with disabilities to create a sensory-rich experience for all children. This concept is not limited to, but includes, American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved equipment for social interaction among all children who will, as a result, focus on similarities to one another, rather than differences. With ramps that create wheelchair access, structures to accommodate children with developmental delays, and social-emotional components, this project will help children learn skills such as openheartedness, appreciation of others, and inclusion. The project intends to alleviate bullying, separation, and a lack of understanding of differentiation. In essence, we believe this project can potentially bring all kids together!

How can you help?
We are working from a grassroots level with students, but we hope to enlist your help for this project to create something special. With the entire student body and faculty of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute working to raise individual funds, we have also secured patronage from many other student organizations in the City of Lynn. We know that we cannot fulfill this fundraising effort without your support. We would be thrilled and grateful if you would consider supporting our student-led effort in any monetary way! By donating to our 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax-deductible and, if needed, you will receive a letter from SkillsUSA recognizing your charitable donation for tax purposes.

While any level of sponsorship would mean the world to both our chapter of SkillsUSA and the many students a park like this will honor, we hope we can rely on you to help us create a new standard of playgrounds for years to come. Simply put, inclusivity matters!

Any business, organization, or individual looking to sponsor our project will receive the following benefits with each level of commitment:
