Incompetent Cervix Awareness Campaign

Donation protected
Incompetent cervix, or cervical insufficiency, or short cervix, or early cervical opening affects over 63,000 families a year.

On average, 50% of IC parents will also experience preterm labor leaving potentially over 31,000 babies to enter the NICU each year.

Due to a complete lack of awareness, families are left blindsided and alone, not sure of what treatment options are best for them.

We aim to change that.

By spreading awareness, we strive to make sure that fair and accurate resources are provided to these families and that an inclusive support system is in place no matter a family's race, gender, religion, or social standing.

Our Website
Incompetent Cervix happens in approximately 1 in 100 pregnancies. That's roughly 63,000 a year. 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. Why aren't more people trying to keep those 1 in 100 from becoming a 1 in 4. These families, these babies, deserve a better chance.

The Incompetent Cervix Awareness Campaign is fighting for more Awareness, Resources, and Support for incompetent cervix families across the world.

So what do we want?

Awareness
-ER Doctors trained in high-risk pregnancy symptoms and care

-Globally recognized Awareness Day

-Having the much-needed conversation about the condition and why it matters

Resources
-Early cervical scans either offered or routinely done before 16 weeks gestation

-Doulas trained in antepartum care

-Hospitals recognizing doulas roles in high-risk pregnancies and working together for each individual pregnancy

-State by State Resources including but not limited to Antepartum Doulas, MFM with recommendations, and mental health services tailored toward pregnancy and loss-related issues.

Support
-Bedrest Buddies (i.e. trained doulas or even other IC mamas who have been through bed rest and can help support)

-Again, trained professionals who are aware and equipped to deal with incompetent cervix and complications from it

-A community of support per US Region (and then onto globally) including local support groups, online support, and ways to pair families with counseling

-Through funding, be able to offer financial support to Incompetent Cervix families whether to help cover a doula to work with their MFM team, or to help cover the extreme medical costs that can come with this diagnosis.
