Christopher's Road to Independence
Christopher was hospitalized for mental health reasons on August 24th, including PTSD. He is currently in the VA hospital receiving mental health treatment. He is unable to work and will not be able to work for an undefined amount of time after he is released. We hope he will be able to come live with us until he is fully recovered.
The VA has told me that receiving service related assistance can take 6 months to a year. He may qualify for disability after some time, but we can't even apply for it until he is discharged.
We are asking for help to pay Christopher's minimum bills as soon as possible until he is able to get some assistance from the VA and/or SSDI. As his illness was greatly affecting him before hospitalization, he was already losing control of his finances before he was admitted. Our goal is for him to achieve some independence once he is released, working towards full recovery.
Christopher served four years in the US Marine Corp (honorably discharged) and was attending CSUSM with a major in Economics. He also aspires to be a writer.
