Indigenous Land Back Movement

Hi, I am an Algonquin College student raising money for
Coopérative de solidarité Biblioterre is a land-based cooperative. They aspire to model ecologically sustainable and equitable living, honour inherent Algonquin sovereignty, and support cultural revitalization while embracing our responsibility toward all life on Earth. Now that they are entering their third year on the land, they are still in the formative stages of growth. Their vision is to become a "Land Library" — an accessible, affordable land base that provides shared lands, tools, resource libraries, and options for private leaseholds.
Some of their core pillars are:
Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression
They acknowledge the legacy of anti-Black, anti-Indigenous racism and genocide on Turtle Island. Racialized and low-income communities face systemic and interpersonal discrimination, which harms health, limits access to food, and causes violence.
As a land-based cooperative, they recognize that many lack access to land and are impacted by an oppressive food system. They commit to centring Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression in their work, dismantling barriers to equity, and supporting initiatives led by marginalized communities. This ongoing work requires accountability, solidarity, and a commitment to equity in the community and beyond.
Algonquin Sovereignty
Biblioterre acknowledges the unceded Algonquin territory we reside in and seeks to share these Lands and Waters respectfully with the Algonquin Anishinaabek Nation.
They invite advisors from these communities to guide Algonquin-led initiatives, projects, and ceremonies on the Land. Over time, they will explore options for permanent Land sharing and Land trusts, supporting the Land Back movement and encouraging similar actions in neighbouring territories.
Liberation
They commit to disentangling themselves from capitalist, colonial, and anthropocentric systems through self-reflection, community dialogue, activism, and solidarity work. They build a culture of accountability and embrace generative conflict.
Using sociocracy and nonviolent communication, they aim for nonhierarchical, consent-based decision-making.
It also fosters collective growth, allows for imperfection, and commits to accountability and apology when harm occurs.
