Fly the We Celebrate Democracy / Civil Rights For All banner over Main Street in Brattleboro for Indigenous People's Day / Columbus Day Week, in honor and celebration of indigenous people.
We are:
Woody Bernhard and Susan Kunhardt of Marlboro, Vermont. We are fundraising to fly the "We Celebrate Democracy/Civil Rights For All" 25' X 3' banner over Main Street in Brattleboro for the week of Sunday, October 7th to Sunday the 14th.
We need: $300
We need to raise to raise a $300 hanging fee for the fire department to hang the banner, This is half price because we will be sharing the space with another banner.
This will be the 9th week we have flown the banner over Main Street since April 2017.
Let's keep up standing up for our rights. Now is not the time to give up. Join us!
You are invited. Watch the banner go up.
I believe deeply in "Civil Rights For All" So I go down to watch it go up. Always hoping that I will see you there. Bring a song to sing, words to speak, a sign to hold.
The fire company hangs main street banners on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. or a little after. The Works will be open.
Background:
We were inspired by Donald Trump's inauguration, and the realization that our democracy is in serious trouble.
We raised funds to have the banner made by Ann Brush of Starksboro Vt, and to fly the banner over Main Street in Brattleboro 8 times since April 2017. Dates included the week before July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day and Martin Luther King Day 2018. With your help we will continue to fly the banner on the same dates in the future.
Our thinking:
Stand up for our rights. We were all once "Indigenous People".
The message on the banner will never be outdated.
We must continue our struggle and never give up our call for democracy for all people: Join us.
Join us in flying the banner of Civil Rights For All.
Thank you all for your support and donations. None of this happens without you.
