Gear for Indigenous tree climbing training
Donation protected
I am fundraising to purchase tree climbing equipment to supply to Yakum, an organization of indigenous residents of the Amazon and partners working to reforest the Amazon through establishing food forests, seed exchanges and reclaiming cultural foodways. In October I will be going to work with Yakum to teach a tree climbing training and to leave gear with communities so that they can harvest fruits and seeds to expand their work. You can learn more about Yakum's work on their website
The total cost of the gear is $3,300, which will provide 4 complete sets- outfitting two communities with two sets of ropes, harnesses, and safety equipment. Any additional funds raised will purchase helmets and saws. Any funds raised above and beyond that will be donated directly to Yakum.
Doing this fundraiser is a way to invite many people to participate and contribute to the important work that Yakum is doing, even small contributions make a difference. I'm covering the cost of travel there and donating my time for the multi-day trainings.
Thank you for joining me in supporting Indigenous efforts to reclaim foodways, reforest the Amazon and protect biodiversity.
