Indigenous Youth Emergency Fund

Hello everyone,

We are two young Inuit/Mohawk siblings who have created this emergency fundraiser because we need real support.

Our family moved to Norway nine months ago to live in a small Northern Sami village with our extended Sami family.

This leaves us without any real support system since the both of us (twins) already struggle to take care of ourselves (as traumatized survivors, mentally ill  2-spirit indigenous youth, among other intersecting identities), while we also deal with multiple ongoing violences directed at us on the daily.

Our return to Canada is abrupt and alarming, we have with us little but our suitcases and have run out of our food money (and any other for that matter).

We are under considerable distress without any concrete plan or reassurance that we can secure jobs, a place to live or have money for food to eat for the next three months.

As two young Inuit/Mohawk siblings we are already extremely vulnerable to systematic and daily racism, navigating daily life means struggling to survive; and in this precarious situation we have absolutely no security.

We would like to ask for your support  to helps us at least meet our minimum needs for survival, this is a very stressful and intense time for our family to have to be separated like this.

We are asking for funds to meet our basic needs. Our priorities are food and a safe place to live.

Any money for food, temporary lodging and public transportation would be extremely appreciated.

If possible, please share within your networks if you can't donate. Any support would be appreciated.

To make this more accessible we've also included an e-mail to accept e-transfers/Paypal:

**The fundraising goal does not reflect the total amount we would have access to if we were to reach our goal, considering this platform takes a 2.9%+$0.30/$1 (processing) fee, which equals about taking more than 1/3rd of the total amount raised.**

We are siblings now living in part of our traditional kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) territory of Tio'tia:ke (Montreal) for the next three months.
