Indigenous Youth Outreach
Donation protected
You can't stay home if you don't have a home.
My name is Nanook and I am fundraising for Indigenous specific outreach supports. This project is very important to me because I spent time homeless and also living in a shelter.
How can we use hashtags #StayAtHome #WashYourHands #WearAMask #WereAllinThisTogether when we have homeless folks who don't have a home or even access to water to wash their hands? I couldn't sit at home knowing there are people who don't have the basic necessities we all have the right to, especially in times like these. They need our support. It's up to us to ensure they are treated with respect by the government and police.
There are thousands of homeless people in Toronto. Hundreds are living outside. Indigenous people make up a disproportionate number of people without homes.
With the reduction of services and people unable to physically distance in shelters, more and more people are visibly outside and in need of support.
I am collecting donations to increase outreach and support. I have been doing outreach support to people in the West End (Parkdale). Parkdale is home to the largest number of urban Indigenous people in Toronto. I have been handing out warm dinners, care packages. medicines and harm reduction kits and am looking for funds to expand this.
Please donate and share to show your support!
