People's power fuels Indy Liberation Center's expansion into new community space: Donate now!
The Indianapolis Liberation Center is undergoing a profound expansion this month and we need you to be a part of it! In the fewer than three years since its founding, the Center has proven that collaboration–and not competition–is what gets the goods for the working and oppressed! Building unity is not easy, but it pays off. By connecting the struggles of the marginalized and exploited through educational and cultural programming, social events and workshops, protests and campaigns, the Center is living proof that if we fight together, we win together. Together with our member-groups, volunteers, organizers, and allied organizations, we defeated anti-poor legislation, most significantly Prop. 291, kicked out racist library CEO Jackie Nytes, established an urban farm that supplied goods for the No Questions Asked food pantry, and led numerous struggles against racism and police brutality, imperialist aggression and coup attempts from Venezuela to Iran, attacks on reproductive rights, and for the power of the people over the elites that run the city.
With such a solid foundation and growing support, the Liberation Center is moving into a new, larger, more central, and accessible community space on 1800 N. Meridian St., just off the IndyGo Red Line! This comes just months after we renovated our website, which now more regularly and frequently releases high-quality news, analysis, event alerts, action campaigns, and guest analyses that gives a voice to the working and exploited masses of the city instead of the bosses and politicians that dominate mainstream news outlets.
Along with our new space, we’re ecstatic to announce the addition of our latest member-group, Arte Mexicano en Indiana, who will bring even greater dynamism to our current members, Indy10 Black Lives Matter, Hope Packages, PSL Indianapolis, and ANSWER Indiana.
We never turn anyone away from our events or programming and we don’t accept grants from corporations or their foundations because they come with attached strings that would restrict our activities. We are a 100 percent volunteer-based and community-supported organization, which is why we are asking everyone to make an urgently-needed contribution to this fundraiser. In addition to our regular operating costs, we need to furnish our new space with art supplies and materials, computers and printers, furniture and desks, to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all of our people.
Our new community center will increase our capacity to unite diverse segments of our community to join together to struggle, create, learn, and build our power. Your generous donation, regardless of the amount, will drastically help the Indy Liberation Center continue on its path of growth and development as a true vehicle for social, cultural and political change in Indianapolis.
Please like, share and donate as far and as wide as possible. Together, we can not only resist the non-stop attacks against us, but stop them from happening in the first place!
