Inga Needs Us: Join the Support Circle

Let's Keep Inga Earthside

Our dear friend, the preternaturally supportive Inga Leed, is experiencing a medical crisis and deserves to have some of the support she's provided over the years to others returned in her time of need.

Inga has been quietly navigating compounding physical and mental health issues for sometime.

She's never been one to burden others (although how could we ever think she's a burden?!), and for the last several years has been a caregiver for her late mother; provided caregiving support for her disabled father; and in the last year began providing full-time, live-in caregiving for her stepfather of 40+ years.

All of this while also being a parent herself and having a career as a special education teacher, supporting families of children with disabilities and delays who are often high-needs.

As long as many of us have known her, Inga has always taken care of everyone else and been a force to reckon with.

But Inga's medical issues have now reached crisis levels. Her medical team and family believe medium-term, inpatient care is critical to regaining health and keeping Inga here with us.

Asking for help is enormously hard, so Inga's small team of friends and family are here asking for her.

Inga needs her community and its support.

The nearest facility available for Inga's medical needs is in Southern California. Although this facility and its providers are in-network, the out-of-pocket maximum is exorbitantly high.

We all know the cost-prohibitive beast that is the US for-profit industrial healthcare complex. That's how GoFundMe started, right?

We are fundraising to help cover the costs of this medical care.

Inga is requiring medium-to-longer term care, which will include 45-60 days of inpatient mental health treatment.

We are asking our community members to rally support for Inga.
