We're back!
Experimental, drone/ambient, synth, psych, IDM, and vaporwave label Ingrown Records is turning 15 this year. What a beautiful journey it has been, and we aren't done yet!
Ingrown Records was founded in 2011 in the hopes of providing a home for experimental and ambient artists who might not otherwise be picked up by "the bigger labels" aka more money-minded vulture capitalists. This was still the era of music blogs and music forums, and the industry was pre-Spotify, so there was still quite a bit of hope in the musical world. Yet even back then it felt like quite a daunting task for one disabled kid who had never had a real job before to start up an entire record label in his dorm.
Flash forward 14 years later and we have released vinyl, tapes, CDs, digital albums, and compilations. We've hosted several festivals (Ingrown Fest) as well as other musical showcases and events, both in Asheville NC and the Washington DC area. We had one last hurrah just after COVID's peak and are very proud of all the good we have been able to accomplish the last decade and a half. Yet now, the world is currently at its darkest, and we're ready to fight: we aim to return to shine our beacon of hope and bring you top tier experimental music in the never-ending storm. We actually already have returned, so we are doing this whether you like it or not!
Now the issue at hand - we would love to go all out for our 15th year. We would really like to release at least four more cassette tapes - ideally six or seven total from new and returning Ingrown artists. We would also really like to host one final Ingrown Fest event, even if it is remote/ online or pre-taped like our last one.
So here is where you come in, if you can help. First and foremost we are asking for purchases on our Bandcamp page so you for sure get something in return. All funds raised will be going right back into the label - and full accountability, any amount made from sales (after fees) will be going right back into this fundraiser.
Now more than ever, it is absolutely vital for experimental music to not just continue but to have a proper home in this world. We take pride in providing just that, not just for all our artists, but for all of our listeners as well. Thank you for joining us on this journey. I can't wait for what's next.
Ingrown is back. Ingrown is forever.
