Injured hair-styler Dean Amundson

Our friend Dean needs your help.
Last week Dean was in a terrible bike accident. Dean does not own a car and uses his bike or public transportation to get to work. On that day after a major rain storm, a hole in the street grabbed his front tire, flipped Dean over the top of the handle-bars and propelled him into the concrete - arms first. He was immediately transported to hospital and was diagnosed to have both shoulders broken.
He had to have reenforcement surgery and has now been released and is home after spending most of the week at hospital. Broken shoulders take a long time to heal - at least 6 weeks, not including the time for rehabilitation (physical therapy etc). He has health insurance that will cover medical bills (after deductible), but apart from worrying about his health, his major concern is dealing with his living expenses. As a one person salon, he is not able to generate income. And yet one of his first concerns while awaiting surgery was to inform his clients that he will not be able to keep his appointments and recommend them to colleagues.
Dean is an extraordinary human being. Not only does he give his time and money to environmental program, human rights, local art scene and Gay rights but he deeply cares about the people around him. He will always give a hand and be the first one in the room willing to help. He is recognized by his colleagues (and clients) as one of the best stylists. Instead of this going to his head, he has remained a humble, caring individual to all.
His career has taken him all over the globe, but he returned back to Minnesota - his home state were family and friends are.
As friends of Dean we have come together to convince him to have a Go fund me campaign on his behalf (it was not an easy sale).
His monthly expenses (home & place of business are about $2,500 monthly). We are hoping to raise a minimum of $5,000, which will at least cover some of the running expenses for a two month period. We have set the minimum level below the $5,000 mark as any money raised will help.
Shoulders and arms are crucial for hair-stylers to perform their work. Please chip in and contribute and also share Deans story on your facebook page. For him to recover well and fast we need him focused on healing and not expenses.
We will be updating this page to show his progress over the next weeks.
As friends of Dean we are sincerely appreciative of you reading Deans story. Thank you. Please use GoFund me to chip in.
Dean will be so appreciative of your support.
