Injured Officer needs surgery

Donation protected
In December of 2018 I unknowingly sustained an injury to my lower back while working. We responded into a school where a large male was reportedly being violent with staff. When attempting to lift this male from the ground I felt what I thought was a strained muscle in my right leg. Unknowingly to me this was the beginning of the worst. I had no idea how bad I was actually hurt. I continued working with this uncomfortable feeling throughout the year until the beginning of August when the pain increased to a level that took me off my feet. It was at this time I notified my supervisor that I had sustained an injury that would no longer allow me to work safely. I explained the incident in depth to Workmans Comp but to my surprise they denied the claim due to a time delay in report. I explained to them I reported the incident the moment I knew I needed medical attention but they refused to accept the claim. At that moment I was not allowed to return to work until I figured out what was wrong with me. I exhausted my savings account seeing Dr's and getting MRI's but they could not find an injury in my leg and eventually released me back to work. I tried to return to duty but the pain was just to much. I eventually was able to find a spine specialist and in a week they diagnosed me with two herniated discs in my back which were causing the severe leg pain, caused from the sciatic nerve. I continued to miss work and eventually returned on a light duty basis so i could attend physical therapy. 8 weeks of physical therapy, 3 weeks of chiropractic treatment, one spinal injection and a mouthful of pills everyday led to a surgery consult. Here we are today, after fighting with the insurance company I have no choice then to have a Lumbar Discectomy.  If you have ever lived with chronic pain then you know i have had about all I can stand. While I recover from surgery my only income will be short term disability. Well today the surgery center called me and is requesting a sum of almost 5000.00 before they will allow me to have the procedure.  The procedure is in 7 days. At this point n the game I just dont have the money and am out of options. I have never asked anyone for a dollar in my whole life and here I am, asking for a favor. Please, anything will help at this point. Thanks for reading. I know that cops get a bad name now days but i was just a dude trying to make a difference.
