Injured Volunteer Firefighter Scott Morgan
Donation protected
On December 23, 2023, just after midnight as many were sleeping and getting ready for the upcoming Christmas weekend, our fellow brother Firefighter Scott Morgan of the Raleigh Volunteer Fire Department was answering our call for help. We had requested Raleigh for manpower assistance for working structure fire within the Town of Carthage. Scott, like many other volunteers woke up and responded to the call on a cold rainy night to help a neighbor in need. While responding to the fire, the Raleigh Apparatus he was operating left the roadway rolling over and trapping our brother in the vehicle with severe injuries. Scott was unable to reach his personal radio, nor the radio in the vehicle since he was trapped. We are fortunate that a Carthage member responding was able to locate the rolled vehicle, as the location was a dark stretch of road on a rainy night. With a call for assistance several resources were diverted from the fire to extricate and transport Scott to Hancock Regional, and then transferred to St. Vincents in Indianapolis due to the extent of his injuries. On social media Scott has been upbeat and thanked everyone for the continued prayers and support for him and his family from their friends, church, and local fire departments.
In continuing to help Scott we are putting together this go fund me to help Scott and his family through the upcoming times of his hospitalization, surgery, and recovery; as well as the financial burden which will be incurred. Please join us in helping one of our fire service family members.
