In Loving Memory of Kiara La

Hello, my name is Kiara and I’m my family’s beloved Chow Chow! Unfortunately, while on a new medication for my osteoarthritis, I experienced some severe side effects including excessive diarrhea and vomiting which resulted in aspirational pneumonia. I was hospitalized for 4 days and 3 nights receiving treatment but it was hard since recent testing revealed I had osteosarcoma and a couple masses on my livers which further complicated recovery. While receiving treatment, things on paper were looking better, but for some reason it continued to be hard to breathe without oxygen therapy and I refused to eat.

Today, on Saturday August 10th, we made the difficult decision to let me cross the rainbow bridge. I put my best paws forward today to let them know I would be okay. I ate some treats for the first time in 5 days. I enjoyed some of my favorite vanilla Haagen Dazs ice cream. I was able to take a short walk outside with my family and gave them all the “paws” I could give. When it was time, my humans made sure I was the prettiest girl and surrounded me with all my favorite toys/treats. I’m super sad to leave them behind but I’ll be watching over them closely and protecting them. Unfortunately, my short stay in the ER has left a hefty bill for my family due to all the oxygen therapy, medications and diagnostic testing done.
