Innocent Black Transwoman Incarcerated
Donation protected
Linlee (@Blasianateit) a Differently Able Black Trans Woman was arrested on 7/3/23 while at an ATM machine in Conyers, GA.
Linlee had just gotten off work and rushed to the bank to pay her rent. She was pulled over by an officer who claimed she was parked illegally (she was not). The flirty officer stated that he would be giving her a warning and Linlee should hand over her license. (her license has not been changed to reflect who she is) This is where the events took a terrible turn.
After giving her license and the officer taking about 25 minutes to return to Linlee’s vehicle he said she had a warrant for her arrest. (Which she had no knowledge of)
We believe she was discriminated against after giving her license over to the officer who seemed to be attracted to her. There is no proof of wrong doing that would have caused a warrant. Linlee has not been in any trouble nor has she received a traffic violation since 2020.
She was arrested and placed in a men’s facility where she has been on 23 & 1 lockdown since she arrived. They are also refusing to give her her medication and hormones.
Linlee had just began to get back on her feet after experiencing homelessness and unemployment. She landed a job which was lost due to this arrest and she had just gotten her own apartment.
We are asking for help from the Queer Community because we need to get Linlee an attorney for proper representation as the public defenders office has done NOTHING to aid Linlee in court where a large amount of court fees/fines that we cannot afford to pay were placed on Linlee. She was unfairly sentenced to 9 months in jail and we are trying to get her out of there with an appeal but we need a good attorney.
We are also trying to prevent homelessness after she is released. It was extremely difficult for Linlee to get a lease of her own due to discrimination. It is a huge hardship on us to keep up with her bills and bills of our own for 9 months.
If you can find it in your heart to help our sister in her time of need we appreciate it!
